Dram Memory Slot Function

Short for dynamic random access memory, DRAM is one of the most commonly found RAM modules in PC compatible personal computers and workstations. It stores its information in a cell containing a capacitor and transistor. Because of this design, these cells must be refreshed with new electricity every few milliseconds for the memory to keep holding its data. DRAM was first invented and patented by Robert Dennard in 1968. It was released by Intel in October 1970. The image below shows a memory module with eight DRAM integrated circuits on its visible side.

There are two main purposes in putting an SD slot in a computer. One is so that you can take an SD card out of a camera and read it to down load the images without using a cable. The other is for nonvolatile identification of a user, so that the laptop can be made more secure. In Dram Timing Control check you have the command rate set to 2, at the top you can also try Maximus Tweak modes 1 and 2. Corsair ram seems to be the most problematic on ROG z170 boards but raising voltages can help, your 6700k could have a weak Integrated Memory Controller too.

DRAM is volatile memory, meaning that if it's disconnected from power, the information in the memory is lost.
